SMI Real Estate Announces Chris Salaz
as New CEO and Partner
SMI Real Estate is proud to announce that Chris Salaz has become a partner in the company and assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer effective April 1. Founder and past CEO, Gabe Johansen, has transitioned to President of the SMI Family of Companies, where he will continue to provide strategic leadership and remain actively involved in SMI Real Estate.
This leadership transition marks an important milestone in the continued growth and long-term vision of SMI Real Estate. Since joining the company more than ten years ago, Salaz has played a key role in the company’s expansion and success, bringing extensive experience in sales, marketing, real estate brokerage, and investment.
“Chris has been an instrumental part of SMI for many years, and this transition is something we have discussed and planned for a long time,” said Johansen. “My goal has always been to build the best companies possible and to never stand in the way of growth. Chris is the right leader to guide SMI Real Estate into its next chapter.”
As CEO, Salaz will oversee the company’s brokerage operations, strategic growth initiatives, agent development, and overall company performance. He will also serve as Principal Broker for the company’s commercial division. Andy King will continue in his role as Principal Broker for the residential division, while Johansen will remain the Managing Principal Broker for all SMI companies.
“I’m excited to take over this role. To lead such a talented and diverse group of brokers is an honor and a privilege,” said Salaz. “I look forward to seeing how we can all grow together.”
SMI Real Estate has experienced significant growth in recent years and expects this leadership transition to further strengthen the company’s position in the market while creating new opportunities for brokers, clients, and partners.
“This is an exciting time for our company,” Johansen added. “We believe our best days are ahead of us, and this leadership structure positions us for long-term growth and success.”
